Catching A Dream

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.  Harriet Tubman

Dream catchers, also referred to as “Sacred Hoops” are thought to have been created by the Ojibwe Chippewa tribe to protect sleeping people. Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with both good and bad dreams.  Dreamcatchers were created with willow hoops, where webs or nets were woven, sometimes adorned with feathers and/or beads.  The dreamcatcher acted as a filter, trapping the bad dreams which dissipated with the daylight.  The good dreams were allowed to flourish, giving blessing to the sleeping ones with good luck and harmony.
