April 10, 2022: Spring Cleaning & New Beginnings

Spring is perceived throughout cultures and history, as a time of hope, promise and new beginnings.  Emerging from the dark, cold challenges of winter, life responds to the cleansing rains, increasing sunlight and warming weather with positive energy, uncovering opportunities for growth and rejuvenation.  Whether, it’s a seed sheltering in the ground, a hibernating animal, or our own tendencies to hunker down and retreat during the long months of winter, Spring sends forth an invitation to blossom and thrive.

Spring Cleaning, an annual ritual for many, can be expanded to more than just our homes.  It can be a chance to review what parts of our lives have become cluttered with unnecessary detritus; which prevents us from blossoming into who we want to be or clearly determine what we want to do with our precious lives.  Whether the clutter is material, physical, or psychological, there is something freeing in opening the doors and windows, to let out the stale behaviors, habits and ideas that have held us back, and to let the fresh winds of inspiration in.  It inspires us to make changes which allow us to grow and be fulfilled.  It’s a time for dreams, like the future flower encased in the confines of a seed, to blossom.

Like gardeners and dreamers, Spring is also a time for planning and preparation.  Imagination comes first, to envision what the garden will look like and what seeds will be planted. Decisions are made to determine the steps to be taken; and contingency plans are created to counterbalance any challenges that weather or life can inevitably bring.  Once cleared and tilled, the garden becomes a blank canvas.

In this time of new beginnings, we can clear our the dust and clutter that holds us back, prepare the gardens for future blossoms, and like the life emerging all around us, thrive on the Spring winds of change, rebirth and renewal.

Spring can be perceived as a new opportunity, a fresh start with a range of wonderful possibilities that only new beginnings bring. During this time of creative energy, new life and light filled days, what dreams do you want to blossom?
