November 8, 2020: A Time to Heal
“We have to heal our wounded world. The chaos, despair, and senseless destruction we see today are a result of the alienation that people feel from each other and their environment.”― Michael Jackson
Our country has just finished a rollercoaster of a tumultuous presidential campaign, with the resulting divide in our country a focus of news media, leaving doubts on whether or not we can once again become the “United” States. Between the specter of a looming pandemic, a struggling economy and a seemingly insurmountable ideological separation, those doubts seem valid…..how can we move forward?
But humans were designed to be resilient. When our bodies are out of balance, we become ill. Right now our country is out of balance, with feelings of betrayal and hurt on both sides of the political spectrum.
We can begin to heal by accepting the past, forgiving perceived hurts and moving forward. Each one of us can open our hearts to compassion and understanding, respecting the fact that although we may differ in our political beliefs, we ultimately care about the same things. We love our family, friends and want the best for them. We are all in this together, living on one planet, and seeing the same moon as it dances each night across the sky. United we stand, divided we fall. Let the healing begin!
