Description
Original watercolor from the Where Summer Celebrates series
Sometimes nature’s most memorable gifts arrive unexpectedly.
Belted Kingfishers are often heard before they are seen, their distinctive rattling call announcing their presence as they dart quickly along the shoreline. Rarely still for long, they can be challenging enough to simply observe…let alone photograph.
That makes those occasional moments when one pauses on a branch overlooking the water feel especially magical.
A Moment of Wonder was inspired by one of those fleeting encounters. Perched on a birch branch above a peaceful northern lake, a kingfisher pauses between flights while soft summer light settles across the water, distant hills and shoreline.
Part of my Where Summer Celebrates watercolor series, this painting celebrates not only the beauty of our northern lakes, but those unexpected encounters that cause us to stop, look a little closer, and appreciate what nature has allowed us to witness.
Each piece is offered as a fine art giclée print, carefully reproduced to capture the soft washes, delicate textures, and luminous light of the original watercolor. Presented in a single archival white mat (11″ × 14″ outer dimensions), each print is ready for framing and designed to preserve its beauty for years to come.
